CMU Researchers Receive Free Trial of Redvis for Cloud Data Storage & Analysis

Monday, May 13, 2 to 4:30 p.m., Hunt Library Room 308

Ian Mathews, CEO and co-founder of the cloud data platform, Redivis, will be visiting Carnegie Mellon University on Monday, May 13. CMU Libraries is providing researchers with free trial access to Redivis for data storage and analyses in the cloud.

If you would like to drop by for a demo of the platform or to ask Ian questions, he will be in Hunt 308 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. He would love to meet with you to answer any questions about Redivis or to hear any feedback and suggestions. Please pick a slot in the spreadsheet. You are welcome to come along with a colleague or labmate or send a representative from your research group.

MAPW Staff Information Session

Friday, May 17, 12 to 1 p.m., virtual

The English Department’s master’s degree in professional writing has been a popular choice for many Carnegie Mellon Univeristy staff seeking to become more effective communicators.

The MAPW teaches professional students to create and execute verbal and visual information strategies (including for print, online, social media and multimedia) and develops their skills for careers as writers, communication specialists and information designers.

If you're interested to learn about the Master in Professional Writing (MAPW) program, the English Department is hosting a virtual information session for staff members on Friday, May 17 at 12 p.m. EST. Hear from past and current students, program director and tuition benefits administrator.

Disabilities Employee Resource Group Organizing Meeting

CMU is expanding its employee resource groups this fall. We will be launching a disabilities group dedicated to supporting and bringing awareness to faculty and staff with visible and invisible disabilities. We will be holding a virtual organizing meeting on May 21 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Supporting Student Well-Being: Faculty Professional Development in Recognizing and Assisting Students in Distress

Wednesday, May 22, 2 to 3:30 p.m., Danforth Conference Room, CUC

For Faculty Members Only*

This is a 90-minute faculty-designed professional development opportunity that is meant to serve as a broad overview of how best to aid students at Carnegie Mellon University. Following this session, faculty should be able to:

  1. articulate key findings about the CMU student mental health experience
  2. describe the vital role of faculty in supporting students
  3. identify the appropriate methods to assist students and
  4. describe the available support resources on campus.
